Day 44/270, That’s 16% Done

Yep on day 44 of 270 of INH for tuberculosis exposure. Let me tell you, if at all possible, avoid this medication like the plague. It makes you extremely fatigued, dizzy every day, and nauseous like you wouldn’t believe (there is a whole list of things I just don’t want to smell, I can’t handle them). It’s like being pregnant, but without a baby inside to make it worth it. Add to that there’s a huge long list of medications I can’t take while I’m on it. And for the most part its ok. Except today everyone has got the sniffles and the coughs and the drippy noses and the achy all overness and all that and I would really, really just like to take some DayQuil, but no, that’s on the no can do list since its got tylenol in it and I can’t take tylenol. I can take motrin however. Anyway, Day 270 is December 7th. I am so looking forward to it.

  1. Sorry to hear that you are sick. 🙁 If it makes you feel any better, I’m not feeling so great either. I woke up yesterday morning with my throat hurting, my body aching… and it feels like I have a fever, but I don’t. So now on to day 2… ahhh Booooo! I technically don’t have to suffer as much as you…. but I feel your pain. 🙁 I hope you feel better soon. If you didn’t live so far, I would bring you a big bowl of hot chicken noodle soup. 🙂

  2. Oh, SO sorry that you have to go through this! Seems so unfair when you give so much of yourself to caring for others – can’t you feel good while you are doing so much good!?

Sorry to have missed your calls – I’ve been in a “intensive” workshop for a week, and exhausted. Will give you a call this week.

  3. I don’t know if it makes you feel any better or not, but your big brother had to be treated with INH when he was still 5 years old (of course, he didn’t finish until after he was 6). His biggest complaint was the taste of the pills: at first he had to chew them up because he didn’t know how to swallow them whole. The taste was so bad that he learned before the end of the first month.
In the end, I hope this means you never have to suffer through active TB either.
Hang in there, and DON’T chew them 😉
