If someone tells you they know what they’re doing in terms of raising children they are either
a. lying
b. don’t have children
c. are on something (and they really need to share)
because let me tell you what, after 3 years of this parenthood business, I’m still pretty clueless. But let me skip the clueless parts of the day and tell you what I did know.
I know if you live on Oahu and one of your toddlers loves trains, you should go to the Dole Plantation. There is a 20 minute train ride that will have her smiling and singing and loving life the entire trip long. The other toddler will get really get rather irritated about sitting in a lap for that long however and you’ll be wishing you had left her and the other parent on the train station.
I know that usually unexpected visitors come when the house looks the worst. However deity smiled down on us today and the home teachers that Steven forgot to tell me about or write on the calender managed to come after the cleaning of the living room. This did not change the fact that both toddlers were so excited to see another person they ran around like crazy and showed the home teachers book and toy after book and toy. I was really glad they were both dads.
I knew my older toddler loved Little Einsteins, Backyardigans, Winnie-the-Pooh and Thomas the Tank Engine. I did not know she had a thing for Wall-E. We were in the car today and she starts saying “Eva…Eva” and waving her hand in front of her face the way Wall-E does, it was adorable. So obviously we had to watch the movie again. If you haven’t seen it, go watch it.
I know my little toddler is about the clumsiest thing ever. I was so excited that the really, really large bruise on her left forehead was healing and was gonna be gone in the 2-3 days (I was planning on starting to take pictures again sometime soon). And then of course, she gets an even bigger, nastier bruise/bump on her right forehead. It’s somewhat embarrassing, I just want to shout at the top of my lungs, “I may think about beating them quite frequently, but I never do!” I’m not sure how well that would go over though.
I know the Pet Store is wonderfully great free entertainment for both toddlers. One will say “Dog! Dog! Woof! Woof!” over and over again. The other will say “Tla! Ga! Da!” over and over again. and then when you get to the fish isle, you will think they’ve died and gone to heaven. You’ll also kinda wish that you lived closer to the aquarium, since you do have passes, but don’t use them as often as you should due to not wanting to drive all the way downtown, yuck. *whoops, just slipped into third person again, I tend to do that frequently…or is it second person removed…or is it just plain blog person, is that in the college books yet? No worries, I just speak English, I never claimed to have a degree in it*
