On the Positive Side, I Now Weigh 129 Pounds, I Haven’t Weighed That Since I Was 19, Too Bad Weight Wasn’t My New Year’s Resolution

Seriously though, if I had had any clue what an adult tonsillectomy would feel like there is NO WAY IN HELL I would have ever done it. It’s worse than an ovarian cyst rupturing, worse than a c-section, worse than a vaginal birth, worse than having your wisdom teeth pulled, and about the same as having your appendix rupture (but they give you way better pain meds when that happens). I was absolutely clueless as to how much pain this would actually be. Since ya know I see kids do it all the time and they play the same day. I knew people said it was worse for adults, but I didn’t figure I would be out right sobbing repeatedly for days. Anyways, my 2 cents, if you’re over 16, DO NOT DO IT! Give me a couple of days and I’ll be able to write a happy post with happy pictures.

  1. Thanks for the update; you are the best! We are still praying for your recovery and a short memory of the pain. I guess I will be forever grateful that mine were ripped out when I was a kid. On the bright side, you don’t have to worry about the holiday weight gain now 🙂

    BTW: Happy Birthday to Steven

I love you guys; hugs and kisses to my Hawaiian granddaughters! Dad

  2. As I remember it, although I felt really crappy for one week solid, I felt WAY better really fast after that.
Also, I didn’t get nearly as many colds or sore throats for the next several years.
I hear from other people that there is less snoring after the surgery too (not in my case though since I didn’t snore that that time, now however, a different story).
Hoping your recovery gets amazingly better in the next couple of days.
    Love you!!

  3. OMG! I just noticed that you changed your branding from “Like a Turkey with its Gobber Cut Off” to “Like a civilian when Godzilla attacks.”

    WAY COOL!

Oh and changing New Year’s Resolution is okay, so if you are wise, you can tell everyone that you already achieved one of your resolutions. WAY TO GO, MAR!

    We love you…Dad

  4. Oh, Maria, we’re so sorry that you are suffering so much. Why DO kids do better with it? You could write a funny book about this experience, compare kids to adults as patients, in general, and make some money from it – just an idea. Hope you feel better soon.

    And happy birthday to Steven!
