Well Seporah is doing really, really well. Her Sunbeam teacher today commented on how well Seporah is doing speaking and forming sentences. I got it third hand but as I understand it Seporah told her that we had a tree with lights and balls on it. Then she told her the “secret” that Felicity broke a ball and got a spanking. I laughed when Steven told me that and asked if it was true. Steven said yes but Felicity was stepping on the glass balls and Steven didn’t want Felicity to hurt herself.
Seporah’s also getting the concept of pretend and imaginary play down. When Auntie Karen was on the mainland last month Seporah would pull her hair in a ponytail and say, “I Karen!” She’s also doing this thing now where she pretends to take body parts like your mouth or ears and then “eats” them. When she gives them back she blows it back to you. It sounds kinda morbid in writing but really it’s pretty darn cute.
We pass the 24 Hour Gym on a regular basis. Everytime we pass it now Seporah says, “Mommy friends playing!” I just laugh because I don’t think the people inside think of exercising as playing, they look like they’re hating every moment in that gym. We also refer to anyone Seporah’s size as Seporah’s friends. So obviously all adults are my friends. It makes me think how nice that would be if we all thought of all the people around us as friends. Kids do make friends so much easier than we do.
Oh and one more non-Seporah thought. In the last month I have literally watched the sun set probably 10 different times (shift change at work is sunset time right now and I have the most amazing view of the island and the water from way up on a hill on the 7th floor). Literally watched it go down. I’ve never done that so frequently before. Let me tell you what, watching the sun set into the horizon is amazing. To watch it go from this yellow ball with all the colors in the sky to a little sliver to gone, wow. And then yesterday I spent the night at a friends house (we were right next to the marathon that way, instead of an hour or more by car) and we walked on the beach and I got to see the sun set over the ocean. It was beautiful.
I’m thrilled to hear the news about Seporah. I hope I get the chance to see all of you while you are here in Washington. Travis and Carma will also be here – it would be so fun if all of us got together!
