I love farmer’s markets, you get fresh local produce at a quarter of the price. There’s one 1.5 miles away at the local high school, but there’s a problem – it’s on Sunday. It would always bug me and I would think, Man why can’t this be open on Saturday, make it so much easier. There’s a big one in the Windward College parking lot on Saturday. We’ve been there a couple of times, but that’s about 25 miles away and really that’s a long way to go for produce.
Low and behold I got an email saying there was one here in Mililani every Tuesday, it’s been going for years right underneath my nose. So of course we had to go. It’s amazing what you can get for your money. I got 5 cucumbers for $1, big red bell peppers for $1, a big bag of green beans for $2, 3 mangos for $1, and Steven got some baked goods for $5 (we would have gotten more but I’d just been to the commissary before I found this out). I’m like yum, I’m coming here every Tuesday.
So I am sharing this wealth of knowledge for all others that live around me and are completely ignorant of it:
“Every Tuesday at Mililani District Park by the skate board park, 11:45am to 12:30pm. Parking has been tight so either come early around 11:30 or come 5 minutes late. They usually start to pack up about 12:15pm. Get on Lanikuhana Ave, cross Kam Hwy, stay on Lanikuhana Ave still. After the first light you will see a park on your right, make a right into the parking lot and look for the skating rink. You will find the market there.
They also go to Wahiawa District Park at 10am same day but parking is hard to find. However, they tend to have more vendors and produce to choose from.”
THANK YOU!! How awesome is that? I am definitely going to have to check it out. That is cheap! And we can always use fresh veggies. So glad you shared.
I got that email as well. I never have a car Tuesday afternoons. Please invite me to go with you sometime.
Glad you found it.
Love you
