The Legend of the Seeker

I have a confession to make…

I am addicted to a C-rated television show (No our television does not get television stations, not one, not PBS, not FOX, nor NBC, nothing. However, Steven sometimes gets these shows through the internet).

Anyways, the show is called The Legend of the Seeker. It’s based off the book Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind. Steven had me read the book like 6 years ago. It’s like size 8 font and 900 pages long. But it’s worth every page. I hadn’t thought about the book in a while though and when Steven told me about the show the only thing I could say was, “Isn’t that the S&M book?” because-well-I’m gonna have to say that’s only time I’ve read a book with it in it (but it’s probably less than 30 pages of the 900) (Oh and Steven was convinced we were going to name our first daughter Kahlan for a long time, I was like no way).

So we started watching the television show. It’s a fantasy love story with wizard’s and magic and swords and all that stuff. The acting’s good, the editing’s not bad, the special effects are all right, the scenery is fun to look at, but the writing totally blows, it’s terrible. All I could think was, how much do these people get paid to make a 45 minute show with awful lines? And how on Earth did I get completely hooked (as in hook, line and sinker)? I kinda wish I was addicted to something a little more mainstream like Lost, something that someone had heard of, rather than sounding like a complete sci-fi/fantasy nerd. Oh, and I tried to reread the book again, it’s great, but it’s so long and I now have 2 little ones so I doubt I’ll even finish the first book (don’t even mention the 9 sequels).

See now didn’t that just solidify my nerdiness to you.

  1. Mària, Now you have me wanting to read it/watch it! I LOVE the trailer. I discovered with Twilight that our taste in reading/movies is very similar, if you love this I will probably like it as well.

How do you access the shows? I do not get but about 8-10 channels of cable so it is probably not on one of the channels I get. Let me know thanks, Mom Deb

  2. I was actually considering watching this because it’s on Hulu. We don’t have television either. It’s marked under the Children & Family Section in Hulu so I figure it’s pretty clean. Maybe I’ll give it a go.
