This post was going to have a quote from the book In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner. However, I can’t find my copy anywhere for the direct quote, so “Let me Explain. No no, there is too much. Let me sum up” (5 points for the person who can name that quote). Anyways, in the book there’s this woman who’s professional, on top of everything and completely drab in her wardrobe except for her shoes. She has lots and lots of shoes in every style and color and essentially the quote says that you can never go wrong with shoes.
I love shoes, having 2 children has caused me to change which ones I normally wear. I pretty much exclusively wear flats so I don’t kill my feet (I’m already killing my back) or trip over anyone and land flat on my face. But they’re all bright and colorful and patterned and seriously, you can’t go wrong with shoes. They are the one thing in my wardrobe where I’m like yeah, I’m cool.
Jason and Sarah got married last June. I bought this dress that I loved and that I looked really good in. Steven said I couldn’t wear it though, you know why? Because it was black. And I wasn’t allowed to wear a skirt and a top because it was a wedding. This being a problem with a 7 month old exclusive nurser. Anyways, I got this dress that would work. Seriously, I feel like destroying every copy of every picture with me it it. I looked awful, just plain awful. I am so embarrassed with how awful I looked, I should have worn the black dress. Sarah wouldn’t have cared.
While I was there though, I had to buy a pair of none outrageous shoes (who makes these rules BTW?). A pair of neutral black shoes to go with the dress. I looked and looked for ones I would actually wear. I did find them, I loved them and I wore them (at least my feet looked killer). And then….I left them in California at Jason and Sarah’s house. I was bummed when I got home and discovered it. I’m still bummed 8 months later. They probably have no clue how often I think about those shoes. Sarah, I hope you wear them and love them. And know the next time I see you I’ll be so excited to see you, I’ll hug you, tell you that you look great and then I’ll ask for my shoes back.
A word concerning the song of the day. The song Lucky is such a sweet little love. You can take it one of 3 ways. One, Jason’s lucky because he found Sarah. Two, I’m lucky because I found Steven. Or three, Sarah’s lucky because she found my shoes.
That, of course, would be the Spainard from the Princess Bride. It is a great movie…
Love you and the shoes!
LOL!!!!!
