I Got Around to a Couple of Felicity Stories

We were at a toy room playing with the toys. Felicity hoped on a ride-on rocket. She had a blast going backwards and forwards exactly 3 inches, not quite understanding the concept of the toy. She hopped off for about 1 minute to pick up a shiny object at which time Seporah hops on. Felicity goes to get back on and starts screaming when she discovers her seat is no longer available. I tell her, well you got off, it’s your own fault (I’m such a cruel mommy aren’t I). So she pouts a bit and starts riding on a very large tonka truck. Mind you, this is not a ride on toy and I can’t imagine all the bumps were great on her butt. I was like oh well, at least her bum is padded.

If you don’t know, Felicity is a very, very whiny toddler. In any given hour she’s probably crying at least 10 minutes of it, no exaggerating. Steven and I kinda block it out a lot for our own sanity. She also has this problem where she can’t walk across a flat surface without falling down, like 2 or 3 times an hour. We probably look like the meanest parents to an outsider. Our 1 year old trips, falls down, starts screaming bloody murder and we don’t even turn.

Felicity is a little copy cat. Just today she saw I was sweeping the kitchen floor and she got the dust pan to help clean up. She pointed to me to sweep the dirt into the dust pan, then picks it up and dumps it over the trash. Thing is, the dirt doesn’t actually make it into the trash can, but all around. I try to fix it, but Felicity’s so intent on helping that there continues to be a large pile of filth around the intended receptacle.

We’re at the grocery store and Seporah asks to ride the ride-on horse. Felicity being like I get a ride too! decides to climb up on a ride all by herself. Which ride did she pick? One of those electrical shopping carts, and she was so proud of herself too.

Felicity may not have any words, but one thing she does is whenever she likes a food she says, “MMMMM!” really loud. And she does it for EVERY bite. It’s hilarious.

Oh and I took her to nursery for the first time yesterday. She’s not actually old enough until May, but she won’t sit still for Sunday School, so I just sat in nursery with her. She had a blast. She did so much better than I thought she would. I think it was because none of the kids were as big and mean Seporah can be. None of them tried to take away her toys or push her over or anything.

  1. Dad and I were both commenting; Russell II always said “Mmmmm” with each and every bite when he enjoyed his food too! We would watch him eat a bowl of cereal with such obvious joy and contentment, I don’t think my joy in any food could match his for a bowl of cereal.
Also, I do remember a daughter of mine who had a very difficult time putting one foot in front of another without falling down. When you were Felicity’s age, all I wanted to do was get a nice portrait done of you and your brother, but you had a green or purple or gray healing bruise on your forehead for months; I think you were top-heavy at that point, because every time the bruise was almost gone and I would set up an appointment to have your picture done, you would fall again and, wham, new bruise right in the middle of your forehead.
    Thank you for the stories!
    Love you,
    Mom
