I have my cleaning routine. Dishes get done before the girls wake up. The living room gets done after they go to bed. The bedrooms, trash and laundry get done while the girls are awake. And hopefully Steven cleans the bathroom, because I don’t, I just can’t squeeze it in there anywhere.
A lot of times, the dishes get started but not completed. We don’t have a dishwasher, everything gets done by hand and it’s somewhat time consuming. So most days I only do 1/2 the dishes and the kitchen sink is never quite clean. This morning I was feeling especially proud of myself, I put the last load of clothes into the washer and washed ALL the dishes. I emptied out the soapy water, threw away the icky sponge and started drying dishes. Steven then sets something on the counter.
Märia: Steven, I just got done with the LAST dish, you can’t give me a dirty dish.
Steven: I didn’t give you a dirty dish.
Märia: Then what’s this? *I show him the dish from yesterday’s lunch*
Steven: Oh, that’s a dirty dish.
So apparently the dishes didn’t actually get completed and the clothes were clean for approximately 2 minutes, since after I finished the dishes I had 2 dirty towels.
You are being much too hard on yourself…sit back and enjoy the moment that you thought all the dishes were done and the laundry was caught up. In a few years, you can start having your daughters help clean; what an exciting time that will be!
Until then, just try to keep up and of course delegate more to Steven. He loves to help and Obama says doing dishes are a soothing thing…
Love you…
