Aimlessly Wondering Tangent Plus Pictures of Cool New Gear

So I love to read. I use to go to the library until my husband asked me to check out The Neverending Story and didn’t return it for 3 months giving me a $35 fine. I suppose I could pay the fine and then go back. But the girls don’t do so well in libraries. We end up staying for like 15 minutes and that’s it due to loud behavior.

Borders is a circus compared to the library. People drink their coffee from the attached coffee shop and browse through the magazines and talk too much, it’s great. We go as a family all the time. Take forever to pick out one book. Bring it home and get to curl up and read it, or at least the first page, over, and over, and over due to “interruptions”. So I’ve actually got (more than) a few books on the shelf that I really, really want to read. I am currently consuming East of Eden by John Steinbeck (yes that is the Of Mice and Men guy). I’m planning on reading The Golden Compass next, hopefully getting to it one of these days. And one day I’m going to join a book club. I went to one once but I didn’t understand what a book club was and I didn’t read the book beforehand and I felt really stupid cause everyone was like what did you think abut chapter 5 and then they were like what do you mean you didn’t know you were suppose to read the book beforehand, that’s the point of a book club. But anyways, the fact that I have too many books that need read does not deter Steven or me from Borders (I think we just like the atmosphere).

A couple of weeks ago I decided to not look at the books but at the accessories (something I never do). And I picked up these totally cool colored pencils and a journal. The colored pencils are triangular so they don’t roll off the table (but the container’s round so it can) and it comes with a sharpener. (Steven thought I bought the colored pencils for the kids though, I was like nope, they’re mine, if they break them under your watch I get a new set). And the book doesn’t have lines in it so you can doodle and it’s sturdy so it can bounce right back after being shoved in the diaper bag. I think they’re awesome. It’s so bad though, my life is so boring my journal just has a bunch of lists. I was thinking I write all sorts of things on my blog, can’t I think of one sentence to write in the journal? Apparently not, just “milk, eggs, bread”.

Aren’t they cool? Is the word “cool” cool anymore? Probably not, I’ve heard Josh talk and I don’t think he uses the word cool. Isn’t it weird to think I’m getting old? Almost a quarter of a century. At least I didn’t say rad.

First off, it is always cool to say cool no matter what age you are! I personally love triangular colored pencils and I expect to see great things from a certain “really old” daughter of mine! Can you imagine: 25 years old, ohmygosh that is ancient! 🙂 I am glad you still like books; I will finish the 9-volume “Prelude to Glory” series soon. The historical fiction about the revolutionary war has me completely spellbound. What to do next!

Don’t forget to pay your overdue library fine before leaving Hawaii; I hear they will come after you if you don’t!

    Love Dad
