Wow! What gorgeous pics! We just got back from a business/company paid trip to the Dominican Republic with 12 people, and all I kept telling Brett is “we’ve got to go to Hawaii and see Steven, Maria and the girls!” Now that you are staying there for a while, I surely hope we can make it sooner than later. Yeah, well that marathon I’m going to run, that’s not ever really going to happen. And this baby fat isn’t going anywhere a far as I can tell. And the closest thing I come to writing a novel is this. So you be the captain and I’ll first mate. I’m thinking we can avoid any and all homework there.

other than encouragement and to tell you to step back and prioritize (and take a deep breath), can we help in any other way? What are the requirements and rubric for English 101? Can I help talk you through assignments and offer ideas?

School is stressful and tough but you are the man who made it through boot camp while I was taking a walking class. We had to work up to walking 3 miles on a track that had this really really really steep hill. Suicide hill was the baby hill compared to this. You were my inspiration to keep walking. I finally graduated and you are way smarter than me. Do keep running to help with the stress but don’t set high standards for it that may not be in your best interest right now. Have faith in yourself as there are many others who have faith in you. Love Ya!

Well, Jason…running, weight loss, and writing a novel are all worthy goals but they won’t pay the rent. I suggest you concentrate on your English work and go on to finishing your degree. Life is a lot easier when you make a comfortable living…

Keep the faith! Oh and trying running less, maybe only two miles every other day…it helps reduce stress from English homework

You can do what ever you set your mind to. Just take it one step at a time. I learned a long time ago, I personally can only handle 1 goal at a time. So decide what needs priority and go for it. You can do it! And remember we love you even if you do not write the great American novel in 1 month. Some times it takes years.

the first time I experienced a lockdown drill in school, I was literally sick to my stomach that this has become a staple just like fire and tornado drills. The school I worked at from January to May had several lockdowns (not drills) because of the neighborhood we were in. The students in this school (all pre-k) really had sad lifes. They had probably seen more in their little lifetimes that I have in my long one.

Prisons should become more of a place where rights are completely taken away and more chain gangs are doing hard physical labor for most of the day. Now there is television, state of art gyms, libraries, etc. There is really no punishment.
