A Bunch of Stuff I’ve Been Wanting to Blog About

How Long Does Your Nightlight Last? When Seporah was a newborn my mom sent her a nightlight. It was a cutesy frilly plug in lamp. It was a blessing that I didn’t have to turn on the bright light every time I walked in there. That little nightlight lasted until about a month ago. I found it in pieces on the nursery room floor. I thought, “Well Seporah, that had a good run, we’ll just get you a new one.” We did, how long did that one last? 2 days, I found Felicity in the middle of all the pieces on the floor. I remembered that night that both my children are deathly afraid of the dark. We opened up flashlights for them. I don’t know what else to do about that as we’re going through a lot of flashlights and batteries.

Where On the Food Pyramid Does Floss Belong? I’ll be the first to say I’m not excellent at flossing. And about a year ago Seporah got to the point where she could just about everything anywhere in the house.  See Seporah would climb up to the medicene cabinet (where the floss is), find the floss and start eating/sucking on it (sligh tangent- I can’t spell medicine, I always found this slightly ironic since I am a nurse and all). So my flossing days gradually got fewer as every time I bought floss I would use it once or twice and would find it wound up in a ball in the corner. Now however I found the ultimate waste in packaging that will help me floss my teeth: floss to go.  Seriously it has one piece of floss in each foil container. It is such a waste, but it totally works.

Did You Know Honeysticks Are Only 20 Calories? Not that I counted calories when I first started eating them at like 10 years old. There’s a bunch of bee farms in Washington state and honeysticks are quite prolific there. They’re essentially closed straws that you break open and eat. Delicious! I couldn’t find them in Georgia anywhere. And it took me a long time to find them here in Hawaii at a natural foods store. And then, they stopped carrying them. I was so sad. I looked at shipping them here, but the shipping (as usual) was outrageous to Hawaii. I’d resigned myself to getting any anytime soon. But, low and behold, the newest and bestest store on the island has it-Target! Once again, the world is saved.

And for all those wondering when we were ever going to buy those tickets to the Mainland, they’re bought. Steven and the girls will be in Texas May 6-27 and we’ll all be in Southern California May 27-June 3.
